Creation of instructional videos for Loughborough Design School students in iPad, DVD and HD Quicktime .mov format. These videos provide basic understanding of the functionality of centre lathe and milling machine tools. Students can scan QR codes on the associated poster designed for the workshop to find the relevant guide.

We needed a selection of multimedia products to complete our Machine Shop video project and Simcoemedia did a good job of highlighting the key messages we need to communicate through the use of video sequences. Framiac Framr Software Box and Brochure

Framiac Framr software is designed to help picture frame makers plan, price and manage the whole process of creating frames. Mark Wilson, the UK’s Framiac Framr director bought the company based upon the success he had experienced using the product and is now promoting it across Europe. Djanogly Northgate Academy

Nottingham’s Northgate Primary School has converted to academy status under current UK government education policy for successful schools and will be known as Djanogly Northgate Academy. From September 2011 they will be working in partnership with the existing Djanogly City Academy which caters for secondary aged students in the central area of Nottingham city. The formal partnership between the two schools will offer continuous learning for local child and young people from aged 3 to 19.

Simcoemedia was asked to work with the staff and children to create a new logo for Djanogly Northgate Academy. The design brief stated that the logo must have an individual feel to it but also be related to the existing Djanogly logo – the colours must also match. Headteacher, Liz Anderson was very pleased with the process and final design and said this:

Once we had provided a rough guide to the direction we wanted to go, Peter [Simcoemedia] led us through a comprehensive design process carefully and considerately with many interesting developments. This process and following discussion enabled us to select the final and most appropriate design for our needs and we’re really happy with it and will be proud to put it on the uniforms, buildings and stationery.

Cuba Collection at Gesso & Bole Gallery

Gesso & Bole are a picture framing company based in Derby and on 9 September 2010 they are opening their gallery to the public. Simcoemedia has an exhibition otherwise known as the Cuba Collection at the gallery – these high quality prints are on sale.

The images were taken on a one week trip to the island and capture some of the classic architecture, beautiful landscapes and intriguing history in ten different photographs designed to be a colourful montage of hue and texture.

Jim Anderson, Gesso & Bole’s experienced picture frame maker and owner, said this about the photographs:

Here at Gesso & Bole we’re keen to work with artistic talent from the local area as well as further afield. Pete Simcoe’s ‘Cuba Collection’ really caught our eye, and we’re very pleased to be featuring the stunning collection. Gordon Giltrap Tour Programme

Simcoemedia has designed artwork for the centre spread of Gordon Giltrap’s 2010 tour. You can find the details about this tour from the Gordon Giltrap website. The original concept for the artwork was produced back in 2007 when Cool Acoustics and Gordon released an album called Secret Valentine featuring his work on the Hybrid Polymer Guitar RA-1 – essentially, this was an album about Gordon revisiting some of his romantic pieces and playing them on the new concept guitar. Some of this early design work featuring the guitarist has been developed and reinterpreted as an alternative take on the album artwork themes with a more ethereal feel to it – now in print for all of the Giltrap fans to see!

Gesso & Bole logo design

Gesso & Bole is a new picture framing company based in Derby in the Midlands. The client brief was to produce a logo design and associated stationery print that would speak “quality and professionalism” from a picture frame maker with many years experience.

We decided early on that we would use a gold blocking technique for the logo to add a hand crafted professional feel to the design and that this would be used on all printed material. Whilst this adds to the printing costs significantly, it fulfills the brief perfectly in terms of establishing a quality and professional result.

Simcoemedia was also involved in the design of the header graphic for the Gesso & Bole website the and animated avatar used in postings to forums and Facebook amongst other social media. Find out more about Jim Anderson’s new business at www.gessoandbole.co.uk

Via Mat A0 poster design

Via Mat International are a transportation and logistics company based in Zurich, Switzerland. The company specialises in the transportation of precious goods around the world – their corporate moto being “safe from safe to safe”. Simcoemedia was asked to design some A0 promotional posters for the various services offered including transport by road and air, storage of precious items, company philosophy and global networking. The end result is a selection of 5 images designed to be used at a conference in March and internally eg board room, meeting room, entrance etc.

Greenbarnes Aluminium brochure

Greenbarnes required a design update for their 2005 Aluminium brochure. The previous brochure had also been designed by Simcoemedia and it was a great opportunity to look at how both Greenbarnes as a company had developed and also new design skills and experience would allow for some fine tuning of layout, style and presentation techniques. The great thing about using desktop publishing software such as Adobe’s InDesign is that it is very easy to create output for both printed and web based media. Most clients use the web on a regular basis or require printed material and have benefited from the weekly research carried out by Simcoemedia to keep up with the latest activity on the web, new technologies, future products, hardware and software issues relevant to their activity. The idea is that Design-Design compliments this portfolio by presenting more objective news to the client allowing them to experiment in their own online experiences and compare notes or learn new techniques.

Professor Kristan Bromley [otherwise known as Dr Ice] has been a long standing Simcoemedia client. One of his recent projects was the Formula Ice educational project aimed at informing and educating within schools and providing practical examples of the science behind some elements of winter sport with a focus upon skeleton bobsleigh events. Simcoemedia was asked to design the promotional brochure.
