Simcoemedia was asked by Tony Hodgson at Loughborough Design School to produce an interesting and creating Augmented Reality application for use on promotional items for the school. The idea is that a hole is created on the surface of the card then products appear to eminate from this. An interesting feature is the ability to view the products and video at 0 degrees and 90 degrees depending upon the tilt of the FLAR Marker.

Below are the results:

You can see the Augmented Reality project in action by printing out the Augmented Reality FLAR Marker, visiting the Loughborough Design School Website then following the instructions to see your simple printed item come to life using the FLAR Toolkit, some 3D models, video and product design images!

Dr Eddie Norman and Liz Norman have worked together to produce a music therapy research website giving an overview of research and encouraging participants. The site also provides a selection of YouTube clips where an accurate and concise overview of many of the aspects of this subject are covered.

Since the original design and production, the site has expanded to feature video contributions from students in the Department of Design and Technology demonstrating some of the products they have designed responding to a therapists brief. Simcoemedia has mainly been involved with the overall layout and design of the site as well as contributing to maintenance.

Torse is a UK based energy purchasing and management group with a focus on providing informed choice in an increasingly complex energy market. Talking to Director Mark Johnson, you get a sense that the Torse group prides itself on placing the company over and above other energy brokers and consultants with an honesty and confidence in the ability to find reliable, solid and good value options for their clients. In February 2009 the company decided to ask Simcoemedia to redesign their site with a view to incorporating information rich content for those who want to know more about the industry but also a simple overview of how the company can potentially save business customers time and money.

Working with Simcoemedia has been an important part of establishing our communication with the rest of the world through both electronic and printed material. We need a designer to provide an objective and creative view of communicating to our customers as a professional organisation,…someone with the right approach or attitude to working with a company to deliver quality design on time.

In addition, it’s not just about getting the result we asked for. The design process we’ve experienced has challenged us to see our business in a new light, from an external perspective, and to take a fresh look at the types of technology available to us to gain more customers and keep them happy.

– Mark Johnson, Operations Manager
