Gordon Giltrap Tour Programme

Simcoemedia has designed artwork for the centre spread of Gordon Giltrap’s 2010 tour. You can find the details about this tour from the Gordon Giltrap website. The original concept for the artwork was produced back in 2007 when Cool Acoustics and Gordon released an album called Secret Valentine featuring his work on the Hybrid Polymer Guitar RA-1 – essentially, this was an album about Gordon revisiting some of his romantic pieces and playing them on the new concept guitar. Some of this early design work featuring the guitarist has been developed and reinterpreted as an alternative take on the album artwork themes with a more ethereal feel to it – now in print for all of the Giltrap fans to see!

Gesso & Bole logo design

Gesso & Bole is a new picture framing company based in Derby in the Midlands. The client brief was to produce a logo design and associated stationery print that would speak “quality and professionalism” from a picture frame maker with many years experience.

We decided early on that we would use a gold blocking technique for the logo to add a hand crafted professional feel to the design and that this would be used on all printed material. Whilst this adds to the printing costs significantly, it fulfills the brief perfectly in terms of establishing a quality and professional result.

Simcoemedia was also involved in the design of the header graphic for the Gesso & Bole website the and animated avatar used in postings to forums and Facebook amongst other social media. Find out more about Jim Anderson’s new business at www.gessoandbole.co.uk

Da Vinci print design and photography

The Da Vinci Awards are a series of prizes and commendations given to outstanding medical product development and innovation. Their main goal is to promote health technology innovation from Leicestershire universities, SMEs, University Hospitals Leicester (UHL) and other regional health providers including the Leicestershire Primary Care Research Alliance.

We aim to enable clinicians to find solutions to the challenges they face, scientists and engineers to advance their research with clinical insight and SMEs to exploit translational research and innovation.

Simcoemedia filmed, edited and produced a DVD for the awards ceremony and also designed the printed brochure and display material for the event which took place on 23 March 2010.

Via Mat A0 poster design

Via Mat International are a transportation and logistics company based in Zurich, Switzerland. The company specialises in the transportation of precious goods around the world – their corporate moto being “safe from safe to safe”. Simcoemedia was asked to design some A0 promotional posters for the various services offered including transport by road and air, storage of precious items, company philosophy and global networking. The end result is a selection of 5 images designed to be used at a conference in March and internally eg board room, meeting room, entrance etc.

Greenbarnes Aluminium brochure

Greenbarnes required a design update for their 2005 Aluminium brochure. The previous brochure had also been designed by Simcoemedia and it was a great opportunity to look at how both Greenbarnes as a company had developed and also new design skills and experience would allow for some fine tuning of layout, style and presentation techniques. The great thing about using desktop publishing software such as Adobe’s InDesign is that it is very easy to create output for both printed and web based media. Dr Ice Formula Ice promo brochure

Professor Kristan Bromley [otherwise known as Dr Ice] has been a long standing Simcoemedia client. One of his recent projects was the Formula Ice educational project aimed at informing and educating within schools and providing practical examples of the science behind some elements of winter sport with a focus upon skeleton bobsleigh events. Simcoemedia was asked to design the promotional brochure.

DATER web hub for design education

The Design and Technology Education Research [DATER] website was designed to enable people to search a large archive of design education research papers. Both the online hub at www.dater.org.uk and the printed material are designed by Simcoemedia. The printed leaflet provides information regarding the nature of the hub and a summary of the different archives available to the site user.

Banner design for Enterprise Office

Loughborough University Enterprises Limited commissioned Simcoemedia to produce a banner and leaflet advertising their Get Ready To Take The Leap – a scheme designed to assist academics in developing their products for licensing and production.

In late April 2008, Simcoemedia produced and printed a promotional brochure demonstrating print, web and other multimedia based projects including work for guitarist Gordon Giltrap and ex-Yes drummer Bill Bruford. The brochure also included descriptions of websites developed for Greenbarnes and the Drawing Research Network.

Punchinello’s photography and logo design

Last month saw the production of a logo and photography for Punchinello’s – Nottingham’s oldest restaurant. The client required a graphic that could be used easily in black and white, greyscale and colour. Also, it should not be too complex in detail so that a sewn or printed badge could be made for staff uniforms. Food photography in a ‘live’ kitchen situation can be difficult but it is also great to capture atmosphere and genuine freshly prepared meals.
